It all starts with Owner Glyn Laraway. Growing up in Cheltenham, United Kingdom, Glyn has always had a natural aptitude for anything mechanical. After completing his degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1992 from Gloscat Engineering School in Gloucesteshire, United Kingdom, he completed his apprenticeship with Caradon Mira, then worked at Fletcher and Hamilton, both located in the United Kingdom.
Listed below are some of his accomplishments while at Fletcher and Hamilton:
· Designing the equipment and the autonomous manufacturing process to more efficiently build Allison Turbine Engine
· Design and manufacture of plastic injection mould tools
· Designing various components in use in Formula 1 Racing cars.
Glyn also has more than a decade of experience racing motorcycles in Motocross, Supermoto and Road Racing and his love of racing inspired him to use his mechanical abilities to focus on enhancing the performance of racing engines. He has spent several years building Top Alcohol Dragster Engines, and over a decade designing Motorcycle High Performance 2 Stroke Racing Engines including designing and building High Performance Exhaust components which are still in use and sought after today.
Started in 2011 as a small shop, Glyns knowledge of engines and ability to solve any problem has led to the growth of Seaview Marine Services over the last decade. Expanding the shop facilities in 2017, and a major shop addition added in 2019 which has him to be able to work on any boat that is road legal to travel to Seaview Marine.
During this growth period, Glyn added likely his best addition to date, Mechanical Technician, Sam Dolimount. Sam also having a natural mechanical ability has a special aptitude when it comes to building engines. The addition of Sam has allowed Seaview Marine Services to not only continue to grow but to put out the top quality and specialized work that can’t be found at any other marine facility.
SVM Performance was an idea born in 2017 where Glyn using his racing engine experience wanted to apply that to the marine side. After an initial engine rebuild with a number of improvements including larger inlet valves and exhaust valves on the cylinder heads, using a higher lift cam shaft, adding an improved intake manifold, building custom exhaust manifolds, and adding O2 sensors in the exhaust manifold to get real time data on proper fuel mixture, Glyn had increased the performance significantly while maintaining durability. Currently SVM Performance is continuing to expand on its original idea and producing some of the highest performance engine packages you’ll see on the water.
